As a mother, sister, friend, colleague, and in my role as an Assemblymember, I have seen firsthand the devastating and far-reaching effect Breast Cancer has had on so many families in the State of California. We are fortunate to have many non-profit organizations that work tirelessly to promote and educate the public, and raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. But we can and should do more.

 

Recently a group of courageous women, each with gripping stories about their struggle with this terrible disease, came to me with a great idea - a Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Specialized License Plate.  I cannot think of a better way to proudly display our support for women battling breast cancer and to remind all of us that early detection saves lives.

 

Creating the California Breast Cancer Awareness Pink License Plate requires a bill passed by both houses of the legislature, signed by the Governor. That is why I have introduced AB 49, and we need support from Californians to help get this legislation passed. 

 

Specialty license plates need 7500 orders before they can be produced.  We want to demonstrate to the members of the legislature and the Governor that we have this support.
